Soulful Wellington singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Louis Baker returns with his new single ‘All We Need’, an uplifting slice of contemporary soul offering a message of hope, connection and collective resilience.

‘All We Need’ is Baker’s first release of 2026, following his acclaimed EP Medicine, which debuted at #4 on the Official New Zealand Albums Chart, and recent house remixes of Keep On released through Berlin label Best Works.

The track opens with a conga, kick and hi-hat groove before layers of guitar, bass and Wurlitzer are introduced. All We Need blends Baker’s modern soul stylings with influences from Jungle, Michael Kiwanuka, Aaron Frazer and Gil Scott-Heron, while remaining unmistakably his own.

Written, produced and performed by Baker, ‘All We Need’ was inspired by the challenge of making sense of an increasingly uncertain world. Opening with the line, “Tell me is this all a dream,” the song reflects a sense of disbelief before arriving at a simple idea: that we are stronger when we support one another.

“Sometimes it’s hard to wrap your head around what’s happening in the world,” says Baker. “There’s a sense of disbelief, and it can be difficult to understand why people do the things they do.”

“An old saying that a rising tide lifts all boats became a guiding idea while I was writing this song. We all rise and fall together. At its heart, ‘All We Need’ is about the belief that all we really need is each other. There’s also a line about having hope in the seeds we sow. It’s about the small things we do every day that can help make things a little bit better.”

Recorded with some of Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s finest musicians, Baker is joined by Cory Champion (drums, tambourine and congas), Iris Little (backing vocals), Johnny Lawrence (bass), James Illingworth (Wurlitzer), Leo Coghini (organ) and Louisa Williamson (flute).

‘All We Need’ marks the beginning of a new creative chapter for Baker, with further singles and a new body of work set to follow in the coming months.
