Following the emotional depth of her recent single ‘Tend to Your Wounds,’ Aotearoa indie artist Lavvender returns with ‘Candid’ – a brighter, more upbeat chapter that pairs self-reflection with a summery, free-spirited sound.

Produced by Ben Woolford, ‘Candid’ shimmers with a jaunty 6/8 groove and jangling guitars reminiscent of The Sundays and Fleetwood Mac. Beneath its breezy rhythm, the song explores the tension between honesty and uncertainty – the desire to stay true to yourself while trying not to let someone down.

“Candid is about being honest, even when it hurts,” Lavvender explains. “It’s that moment where you’re trying to figure yourself out, but you don’t want to hurt someone in the process. It’s messy, but real.”
