Lexytron has releasesed their new single ‘Kiss Me Quick’, with a music video premiering the following week on Canadian music news website V13 Music. Singer Lexy and producer Mike, who make up the husband/wife duo Lexytron, moved from England to Aotearoa in 2019 and recorded their forthcoming album ‘Something New’ in their home studios in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Their sound is guitar-based, but the style moves between synthpop, rock n roll and alternative. ‘Kiss Me Quick’ follows the release of ‘Something Blue’, Lexytron’s genre-bending debut album released in March 2020.
Cloaked in a fuzzy synthscape, ‘Kiss Me Quick’ sees singer Lexy dripping in vulnerability and slathering herself in alt girl empowered pop. “The song is about a one-sided relationship and waking up to the realisation that it’s time to walk away. I took the lyrics and chords to Mike and we experimented to create a dreamy soundscape. I like the tradition of marrying darker, heavier subject matter with a different musical tone. It was recorded in our home studio in Auckland and mixed and mastered by London-based producer Marco Meloni, who recently won a Cannes synch award for his rescoring of a scene from The Piano.”
