New Zealand On Air Irirangi Te Motu is pleased to announce the results of their July New Music Single funding round. NZ On Air will be investing up to $11,000 in 31 songs by local artists to be released in the coming months. This funding supports artists’ recording, video and promotion costs – with the aim of helping their work reach the audiences of Aotearoa and beyond.

This month NZ On Air received 247 eligible applications and, within July’s funded artists, there are nine first-time NZ On Air New Music Single recipients. It was also great to see a good spread of funded artists based all around the motu creating such a wide range of music.

NZ On Air values the importance of a diverse and inclusive music industry — so as part of our mahi, we monitor our funding statistics to ensure our work supports such diversity within the music communities of Aotearoa. The following 31 songs support a diverse range of audiences and show strong potential to reach those audiences via broadcast, streaming and online media.

The quality of music submissions continues to be of an incredibly high calibre, and NZ On Air thanks this month’s judging panel for their hard work and considerable expertise in deciding upon the final results.

New Zealand On Air’s next New Music Single round will open on Thursday 8 August and the deadline for the round is Thursday 22 August. You can find more information on New Music Single here.

We also have a New Music Kids round open now, and the round will close on Thursday 22 August 4pm.

New Music Kids is our tamariki-focused music funding for the creation of New Zealand children’s music – namely songs and supporting visual content aimed at children (generally under 14). You can read more about New Music Kids funding here.
