Please Give Blood’s New Single Explores ‘Deep Brain Stimulation’

Dee and Kay Blood are Please Give Blood – two seasoned musicians who’ve joined forces on an adventure into psychedelic electronic art rock.

“We still believe in the power of music, of song-writing, in that sonic hand to hold through those dark nights of the soul.”

Please Give Blood channel strands of goth, punk and post-punk, with strange overtones of Television, Wire, Magazine and the rockier side of ’80s New Wave.

Deep Brain Stimulation‘ is the first single from their forthcoming debut album Songs for the Long Disaster.

Kay Blood (guitarist/lead vocalist) describes ‘Deep Brain Stimulation‘ as “running down a virtual highway, thinking you’re free within nature. But actually you’re lost in the echo chamber of an algorithm which now simulates the nature of your existence, with birds, churchyards, and the weight of nettles brushing against your legs.

A lonely existence in the company of what can be reproduced as reality. The future as dopamine-infused isolation in an ever-expanding machine.”

Having been together a number of years, playing select one-off performances in Auckland, with their debut album ready for release, Please Give Blood (PGB) are excited about the future, with album number two already in progress.

Dee plays drums, keys, sings and arranges electronic soundscapes; Kay is on lead vocals, and joins Dee on acoustic and electric guitars. “It’s not enough to just write good songs, we have to interrogate our very existence to get to the crux of what is plaguing the modern human”.

Be ready to have your mind and heart opened. The debut album Songs for the Long Disaster is out soon.
