South Auckland trio STNDRD return on June 26 with ‘Get It Back‘, a soulful new collaboration with Myshaan that tells the story of love, heartbreak and the hope of finding your way back to each other.
Built around smooth harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and a warm R&B groove, ‘Get It Back’ follows two people trying to find their way back to each other after a relationship has drifted off course. Rather than dwelling on blame, the song leans into vulnerability, reflection and the belief that love can survive life’s twists and turns.
For STNDRD, timing was everything.
“We wanted to release something that felt right for winter,” says the group. “A song you can sit with. Something honest that reminds people it’s okay to be vulnerable and that sometimes the people we love are worth fighting for.”
Written by STNDRD and Myshaan, ‘Get It Back’ was produced by Grammy Award-winning New Zealand-based Samoan producer Aaron ‘Astro’ Strickland, whose understated production allows the emotion of the song to take centre stage. Myshaan wrote and recorded his verse while living in Hawai’i, giving the collaboration an added sense of distance and reflection.
The accompanying music video was shot by Connor Pritchard, whose credits include Stan Walker, WHOSHOTSCOTT and SWIDT.
‘Get It Back’ arrives as STNDRD continue to build on the momentum they’ve created over the past few years. Proudly Samoan and raised in Ōtara, brothers Johnathan and Paul Aoina alongside lifelong friend Teeroy Leo have built one of Aotearoa’s most recognisable Pacific music catalogues, blending R&B, hip hop, reggae and island influences into a sound uniquely their own.
Since launching in 2020, STNDRD have amassed more than 30 million streams and views across digital platforms, earned platinum status with ‘My Uso‘, received multiple Pacific Music Awards finalist nominations, and charted eight singles on the Official Aotearoa Music Charts. Their music continues to draw on family, culture and the experiences of Pacific communities, themes that have resonated deeply with audiences across Aotearoa and beyond.
Now fathers to seven children between them, the trio are entering a new era with renewed purpose. ‘Get It Back’ is the first in a steady run of releases planned throughout 2026, with a new R&B collaboration featuring Auckland vocalist Evander arriving in August, followed by island reggae releases featuring Hawaiian artists Dillon Pakele and LEWA later in the year. The releases will ultimately lead into STNDRD’s next full-length album in 2027, alongside plans to tour across New Zealand and Australia.
‘Get It Back‘ from STNDRD featuring Myshaan is available on all streaming platforms.
