T O U R I S T Return With New Single ‘My Everywhere’

Aotearoa rock band Tourist return today with ‘My Everywhere’, their first new single in 15 years marking a new chapter for a band whose music has taken them from Auckland to the UK, US and beyond.

Originally formed in the early 2000s, Tourist established themselves on the New Zealand rock scene with NZ On Air-supported releases, national radio play and a #1 on 95bFM with ‘Do You Feel The Cold?’.

The band’s songwriting subsequently reached an international audience. Frontman and songwriter Peter James Rudd was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition from more than 15,000 entries worldwide, while Tourist secured US publishing representation and had ‘Do You Feel The Cold?’ licensed for the Hollywood film The Butterfly Effect 2.

The band also recorded in the UK with acclaimed producer Greg Haver, whose credits include Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia and Super Furry Animals.

Their two Eps and full length studio album ‘Minutes Last For Years’ received positive reviews both in New Zealand and overseas. Off the back of this album the band toured New Zealand and overseas including performing with Snow Patrol.

Now, more than 20 years after Tourist first emerged, Rudd is returning to the stage with a new band lineup and new music.

“First and foremost, I’ve always been a songwriter. The songs have always been the starting point for me, everything else comes after that. Even through all the different things I’ve done over the years, working across the Pacific in international development, I’ve never stopped writing. Coming back to Tourist gives me the opportunity to write and release new material, and hopefully connect them both our former fans and a whole new audience.”

Rudd’s musical career has continued alongside more than two decades as co-Director of Rudd School of Rock in Auckland, where he has helped generations of young musicians develop their musicianship skills, and experience playing in bands.

Now he is doing what he has encouraged so many others to do for all those years, getting back on stage and making music.

‘My Everywhere’ was recorded in New Zealand and is the first of a series of new Tourist releases planned for 2026/27.

“We’re definitely not trying to recreate the past. We want to take what we’ve learned and make the best music we can now.”

Tourist will celebrate the release with a headline show at Whammy Bar, Auckland, on Thursday 29 October 2026, performing ‘My Everywhere’ alongside songs from their earlier catalogue and new material.
