Emerging R&B/Soul artist TiGER is set to release his emotionally charged first single, ‘Corset Me Free,’ on April 9, 2025. Available on platforms such as Spotify and iTunes, this deeply personal track explores the power struggles and emotional distance within gay and straight male friendships, blending vulnerability with a raw, nostalgic intensity.
Written on a floor mattress in the throes of a hangover and wounded pride, ‘Corset Me Free’ is a love letter to friendships often defined by unspoken expectations and inequity. It speaks to the loneliness of being on the outside looking in, the passive roles we sometimes accept, and the longing to be both seen, understood, and desired. Though rooted in present emotions, the song reverberates back to our adolescent past, making it a deeply resonant experience.
“Left out in the sun for too long – that’s how I felt writing this song. I’m just a person with needs and desires like anyone. As a human being, there’s generally always an inherent need to feel accepted, and we often turn a blind eye to those we care about when they treat us incorrectly in exchange for what we think is acceptance. There is a double standard when it comes to what a straight man feels they can do to a gay body, versus what a gay man can do to a straight body. This song is about that inequity, the way we see our bodies, and the way our bodies sometimes shape the way we see ourselves,” says TiGER, reflecting on the track’s honest intentions.
Produced alongside Bray Jeffries, and mixed and mastered by Rāwiri Waters, the song’s atmospheric R&B soundscapes, poignant lyricism, and soul-stirring sensual delivery make it an essential listen for those who have ever felt misunderstood in the friendships they cherish most.
