Where’s Jai are back once again. The pop rock act have their brand new single ‘Check It Out‘ on June 19th a dark, addictive summer anthem that just doesn’t let go.
‘Check It Out’ explores the seasonal relationships that have evolved into something far more consuming. On the surface it’s a perfect summer romance the kind that exists at a mutual understanding of fun with no strings attached. Underneath, it’s a meditation on limerence, obsession, and the blurred line between love, attachment, and ownership. The song captures the intoxicating rush of a connection that burns bright for a season before disappearing, only to pull you back in again the next year. It’s shallow and all consuming at the same time. That tension is exactly where Where’s Jai thrive.
The release comes at a pivotal moment for the band, who are rapidly outgrowing the “local band” tag and connecting with audiences the way mainstream acts do. Their debut album Fresh Out Of Air debuted at #2 on the Official NZ Music Charts behind only Six60 and they’ve since moved over 200 physical vinyl copies, sold out a national headline tour including a 450 cap hometown show at The Tuning Fork, and accumulated over 2 million streams on Perfect Crime alone.
