YDoubleR Confronts Memory, Mortality and the Weight of the Past on New Single ‘Ghosts of Passin’

New Zealand experimental hip-hop artist YDoubleR has released his latest single, ‘Ghosts of Passin’, a deeply introspective track exploring mortality, memory and the strange feeling of carrying the past while still trying to move forward.
Released on 28 August 2026, ‘Ghosts of Passin’ finds YDoubleR sitting somewhere between conscious hip-hop, alternative rap and atmospheric experimentation. Built around reflective production and emotionally direct writing, the track turns inward, questioning what remains when time moves on and whether the things we leave behind ever truly disappear.
At the centre of the song is a recurring question:
“And if I die tonight, would you save me a seat?”
From there, YDoubleR moves through fragmented memories, uncertainty and observations of a world that can often feel barely held together. Lyrics such as “World is in pieces stuck together with glue” capture the uneasy atmosphere surrounding the track, while references to age, passing time and personal history give it an autobiographical weight.
‘Ghosts of Passin’ was written from a period of reflection, looking at earlier versions of himself and the memories that continue to resurface years later.
